The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for volunteers to get involved with a well-established community group. As a voluntary organisation the West Armagh Consortium relies on its members who play a very important in the delivery of our action plan. That Action Plan is wide and varied and includes a number of set annual events. We are based at Cathedral Road Recreational Centre (Sherry’s Field) but the consortium is very much involved in local community events that takes us out into the community to deliver actions/events directly.

Community Volunteer
Community volunteers may be the first point of contact for many of our visitors/participants in programmes and events, so it is important that as a community volunteer you are friendly, approachable, a good communicator. Reliability is an essential criteria and you should be able to get on with a variety of people as you will be volunteering as part of a team. You may be asked to act as a point of contact for the successful delivery of programmes/events. An interest in community, the arts, sport, etc, would be useful but not essential. Due to the nature of events a certain amount of flexibility and adaptability is required.

Where?
We are based at Cathedral Road Recreational Centre (Sherry’s Field, Armagh BT61 7QX) but the consortium is very much involved in local community events that takes us out into the community to deliver actions/events directly.

Support, supervision, training
Community volunteers can rely on a large network of community volunteers affiliated to the West Armagh Consortium via our member groups to give support, supervision and training if required. Specific training opportunities are regularly available and as a volunteer with the West Armagh Consortium you will be offered training opportunities as and when they arise.

Expenses
You will be reimbursed for any out of pocket expenses incurred. You will be required to complete a claim form for out of pocket expenses and provide relevant receipts. This will be reimbursed after the event/programme.

What the Role Offers Volunteers
Volunteering with The West Armagh Consortium provides an opportunity to meet other people at friendly and welcoming social event. It provides volunteers with event management experience and develops customer service skills. Volunteers will work as part of a team providing a unique community festival offering a service to the local community. They shall be creating and building a sense of community spirit, building community relations and experience other cultures through their participation in the festival.

All applicants will be telephoned after to discuss their application and availability.

Additional Information
Volunteers are advised to familiarise themselves with a number of polices that The West Armagh Consortium adhere to. 
Some volunteer/staff roles will require an Access NI check to inform West Armagh Consortium of any criminal convictions that a person may have. For example, any volunteer role or post which involves regulated activity with children or vulnerable adults will be subject to an Access NI check. NB - Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from working or volunteering with the West Armagh Consortium. This will depend on the nature of the position applied for, together with the circumstances and background of your offences or other information contained on a Disclosure Certificate.
