The West Armagh Consortium launched its new website tonight at an official launch held in its premises in Sherry's Field Sports Complex. The event was attended by representatives of local community, sporting and cultural groups. Guest of honour was Armagh Lord Mayor, Cllr, Robert Turner who wished the consortium every success with the new website. Chairperson of the Neighbourhood Renewal and Partnership Board, Fiona Kelly also attended the event to wish the consortium every success and she added that she was pleased that the NRPB was able to assist in the setting up of the website.
The consortium's chairman Stephen Fields, in thanking all who attended, outlined the consortiums vision of the website. Describing it as an umbrella site he said:
“When we decided to run with this project it was not merely to promote the consortium…
We are an umbrella group made up of several community groups. Through these groups we have links to a number of other community groups, sporting, cultural and statutory bodies. There are numerous community, cultural and educational events and programmes going on in the city, all of which make an impact on the community. So as well as promoting our own organisation we will promote and support similar enterprises pertaining to the community.”
